Re: What questions wld you like our Genetic Specialist to answer for you?

Hello there. I am a 33 year old mother of 6 young children. 4 beautiful daughters and 2 preschool sons. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4c ovarian cancer 2.5 years ago ( terminal diagnosis) she is only 53. Her mother died in her fifties of Malignant melanoma of the Vagina. I would like to know if we would qualify for genetic testing to see if we are at risk of developing a gynaelogical cancer. There are a large number of females in our family. I have 4 daughters. I am one of three girls and my two sisters have 3 girls between them. I feel unable to make an informed decision about my future and wether or not to have my ovaries removed without knowing if we are at an increased risk of developing OC. Can you please advise? Thank you so much for offering your wonderful website.

I thought it might be important to mention that my mother is Maori. I dont know if that increases our risk?

I have to say that I’m really impressed with this. I mean, sure, you’ve got some very interesting points. But this blog is just really lacking in something. Maybe it’s content, maybe it’s just the design. I don’t know.  But it’s almost like you wrote this because everybody’s doing it.  No passion at all.
